Much like on the field this season, the SEC and Big Ten are dominating the college football recruiting rankings after the first day of the early signing period Wednesday. The conferences combined to take the top 11 classes, according to the 247 Sports rankings.
The top three schools – Texas, Alabama and Georgia – are from the SEC, as are 8 of the top 11. Three Big Ten schools round out that group, including the next two in the rankings -- Oregon and Ohio State.
In all, the top five schools had 19 5-star players sign with their teams when this story was published. And those schools signed 7 of the top 10 ranked players, including two by Georgia -- Savannah Christian Prep DL Elijah Griffin, who is 247's No. 3 overall player and edge Isaiah Gibson, No. 9. 10th rated Justus Terry, a defensive lineman, is also committed to Georgia but has not yet signed.
